# Are all Listeria considered a Pathogen?

| No. L. monocytogenes is the major human pathogen (Note: L. ivanovii is pathogenic to primarily ruminants but can be opportunistic pathogen in human). As the presence of Listeria species can be an indicator of the sanitary condition conducive to L. mono presence, corrective action is recommended to ensure proper controls are in place and working effectively. |
